Mudgee PCYC is now $1500 richer and it’s going to be the kids who will benefit the most.
It was announced recently that the Mudgee PCYC were successful applicants of the Woolworth’s ‘Fresh Food Kid’ initiative launched in March. The program planned to distribute over $2 million to organisations across the country, who are committed to promoting positive messages about food and nutrition.
Of the 12,500 applications, the Mudgee PCYC was one of five organisations in the area and 1185 across Australia that received grants
Railene Doherty of the PCYC, who lodged the PCYC application in March, said all the money will be going straight towards the school holiday programs run by the PCYC.
“It will help us get more kids active and also fund healthy eating for our holiday programs,” she said.
“We want to run more activities and teach kids the importance of food and nutrition and this donation will help us to do that.”
The purpose of the program is to send a positive and practical message about fresh food to children and their parents and to encourage good nutrition, physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
“And that’s exactly what the Mudgee PCYC encourages.
“They are very worthy recipients of the grant and I’m more then happy to pass on the cheque,” Ross Armstrong, store manager at Woolworth’s said.
